Vetrino, Vitebsk region:
The town Vetrino is situated between Polozk and Novopolozk. There is river West Dvina close to it. The town is ideally clean. There are 3000 inhabitants there. The missionary Vassily Bulavko is known by everybody Ö grown-ups and children. People like to be, to speak with him. Vassily loves his people, he has a tractor and helps people to cultivate their plots of land, he fixes fences, cares for orphans. When we invited people to the church, people asked: "To VasyaÒs church?", smiled and agreed. But many people are still suspicious. They fear "cults". One morning we went with Vassily. While he was ploughing we were standing with two women and telling about "Four Spiritual Laws". The elderly women were listening and nodding their heads.
Afterwards we went to the town hall to get to know the chairman Ö Anna Fyodorovna. She thanked Vassily and asked him to help some other people. Of course, Vassily and we not only helped people physically but spoke with them about God and their spiritual needs.
On Saturday we were invited to a conference "About music in church". After the conference we visited a famous Orthodox cathedral "Sophia cathedral". Close to it there was a communist monument. It reminded us of idols in the Old Testament. It was on a hill, among trees and separated from everything.
The church in Vetrino is a regular small house. About 30 people attend it. The night service was in a friendly, warm atmosphere. We were sitting at a big table and drinking tea, singing songs. Alexey read some verses from the Bible, we both told our testimonies. We got to know the church-members and liked them very much.
On next Easter-Sunday we had a special service. We praised the Lord that 4 non-believers came to the church. There was a man from Chernobyl-region. He was very badly ill. He even said that he could die. Some days before he received Jesus but he could not grasp that after death there is another life. He thought after death is darkness. We explained him what the Bible tells about eternal life. He prayed with us and thanked God for salvation and life after death.
Later we showed the film "Spiritual warfare" in the orphanage. The headmaster watched the film with great interest too. Afterwards something great happened. We met the local youth and had a talk with them. After our meeting they gave us their guitar as a gift because our guitar broke down.
Next day we had a blessed meeting with the local music band. Alexey taught them playing drums and explained some things. We sang together.
On Tuesday we invited people to watch a Christian film. Many people came. After the film we had a nice fellowship. I was speaking with a woman. We prayed with her several times. We discussed some verses from Isajha, sang songs, told about wonderful GodÒs works in our lives.
We had to part the next day. Within some days we loved many people and now we pray for them.
