Lyakhovichy is a small town, there are 11 thousand inhabitants there. There is no Baptist church in the town. A missionary has just begun his activities. In the very beginning we realized that it would very difficult to work there.
The town is famous in our country. A specialized clinic for abortions is situated there. This evil affected the entire town. We faced difficulties and barriers everywhere. We intended to show "Jesus" film, we addressed the local authorities several times, but faced their resistance. All attempts were in vain.
We took questionnaires and began to visit people in their homes. We failed. Before us Jehovah's
Witnesses visited people and many became angry. They received us with aggression. Many did not want even to open their doors and advised us to do serious work and not to pull people's leg.
We turned our attention to the clinic. We took "Jesus" film, booklets about abortions and went to the clinic. Women waiting in a queue have already made their decision and did not want to hear anything. But we did not give up. We told about development of a child in mother's womb, about what life means, about the responsibility for the sin of destruction life. Many women heard for the first time in their lives that a child in their womb is alive, that an abortion is not just an operation but a real murder. We came to those women many times. One woman listened especially attentively and we hope that this soul will find salvation.
During our ministry we did not see any repentance, we could not break the walls, but we believe, the Lord has His plans and our work will not be fruitless. We learned to humble ourselves and take things as they are.
